Saturday, July 13, 2002The Levant
Atlas Games is realeasing a Levant Sourcebook. I really haven't thought much about Ars Magica in ages. I might pick this book up though, it'd be interesting to see how the author's view of the Middle East pans out.

Thursday, July 11, 2002Orks Are Tough
Rebecca and I played a small (700 point) 40K game last night, her with Orks and me with my Imperial Fist. Her army looked something like this:
Warboss with 5 Nob Retinue (mixture of Choppas, 'Uge Choppas and a Power Claw) in a Trukk 2x15 Slugga boyz w/Burna boy on foot 2 Warbuggies (1 x MegaBlasta, 1xTL Rokkit) 1 Dread (Big Shoota & Scorcha) My force was: Chaplain 2x10 Tac Squad (Heavy bolter, Missile Launcher) Bikes (3 x Reg, 1xAssault) Tornado She crushed me. I had one unit left (the Tornado). I couldn't stop the Warboss... She rocketed him up in the Trukk in turn 1 (I tried to pop it but failed!). In turn 2, she assaulted with the Warboss & Nobs -- and that was pretty much it. My Chaplain managed to take out the Warboss, but died doing it. I killed maybe 1 Nob. While that was going on, her Slugga Boyz advanced under fire and assulted me. It was sick. I LIKE orks. I want more orks. Mmmmm, assault.

Forums Toast
I killed the discussion forums... they were dead, and occupying space. They were also starting to generate mySQL errors and I don't feel like fixing something that never gets used :-)
Chaos Marauders
I just picked up my first regiment for Warhammer Fantasy... a unit of Marauders. Wow, GW is really getting these plastic minis down, they look beautiful and have a bunch of cool extra bits. I'll pick up a box of Warriors soon, too.

Sunday, July 07, 2002New Dark Eldar?
PORTENT.NET - The Ultimate Games Workshop Web Source is reporting a rumor that the Dark Eldar will be getting a new Codex and some new models "next" August! w00t! I hope the new Codex is fluffy, and not just as army list update reprint kinda thingy. However, this does leave me wondering about the "next" in "Next August" I fear it means August '03...
No Ted Turner
It seems that the Ted Turner rumor isn't true. Info here.

Since Dakka Dakka participated in this year's Game Day, their photos are of a more "behind the scenes" variety. Pay particular attention to Page 6, which discusses next year's 40K Summer of Chaos. Here are the pix.

Monday, July 01, 2002Painting Figures in B&W
During a break at Saturday's 40K tourney at ZGames, John and I were talking about painting a fig in black & white -- lo and behold, today I stumble across just such a thing: Mortis, of the Hand of Justice. I really like the idea of it, I think a B&W diorama would be very cool indeed. '40s era gangsters would probably work best, eh?
